EMB International Dairy Congress in Brussels

EU dairy farmers stand united: 4,500 dairy farmers from across Europe attended the European Milk Board's International Dairy Congress in Brussels on 13/2/08: Balanced markets - Fair prices and a resolution was passed demanding farmgate prices that cover the cost of production and that include a fair payment for working forces (in many cases unpaid/underpaid family labour)... EMB also want to see a flexible control of milk quantities to enable supply to be geared to demand and being in the hands of milk producers.

One of the benefits of EMB is that milk producers from across Europe sit down together at regular member meetings and report on what's happening in their own country... one of the main points to be taken from these meetings is that UK dairy producers are still not receiving as much as most other European farmers! read DFoS report or check out EU milk prices on MDC site.
